Director of "Heatstroke"

Nolen Scott began his film career in 2016 as a Production Assistant in Vancouver. Looking for a cool come and go gig that wouldn’t clash too much with his lifelong goal of being a touring musician. Cutting his teeth as a Key PA and Assistant Director on a vast variety of projects big and small, Scott developed a keen sense of how to run a set, and advocated for a just and fair one. His background as a rock band front person and his affinity for setting Background Actors gave him the follow through, logistical flexibility and creative rapport to turn stories into reality. In the spring of 2023, Scott set out to harness his industry know-how to help get childhood best friend and up and coming Writer Keegan Bartel’s script for “Heatstroke” made- on the hottest days of the year! Rounding out the end of 2023 Scott recorded his second DIY EP with band Kites On Mars, took part as a subject in Joel Reimer’s “Not a Typical Movie” (a tell all on Film workers on the Autism Spectrum), and composed music for both Heatstroke and NATM. As a neurodivergent filmmaker, Scott continues to work as an Assistant Director and to fight for a worker-friendly future, particularly for PAs and ADs when not taking out time to cuddle with his beloved cats Gray and Mushu.
